The Obdurate Avidity
Chapter 5
By TurtleBoy
That evening directly after supper, me and James decided to take a quick hike down to the lake. With my parents still not home, and the dishes left in the sink from our super healthy supper of P.B.J and a massive bowl of Dutch Chocolate ice cream and yummy fudge, We left my parents a not which told them our whereabouts. With that done, we left threw the back door, and followed the ditch towards the lake. Fortunately the ditch stretched the entire way there. Which made it impossible to get lost. The trees surrounded us by thirty feet on each side, which James said wasn’t disobeying any forest exploring rules. Which I found kind of annoying, as I wanted to be a rebel. We had been walking for a good 15 minutes when I began to hear some very familiar sounds. Birds were flying above us, and nesting in trees. Before I would never have paid attention to this, but now it was something special. I saw squirrels and even a few deer! It was exciting to see deer so close to home, especially so close. You never get that in the city, I can’t think why……
As we continued our journey, I had noticed the ditch was becoming wider, which was only by a foot or so, but there was some real water in it. Not that sludge I discovered in my back yard. Of course this wasn’t the only thing that had changed. The distance from us and the trees had become more narrow, creating a dark gloomy setting. In the distance all you could really see was black, with the occasional sun beams making it threw and shining partially against the grass. Before long we found our way past the trees, and arrive to the lake. It was large and shone blue, trees scattered against its beaches, and large rocky hills beyond that. The sky was a slightly red tinge, with not a cloud in site. In the near middle of the lake there was a small island, when you looked closely you could see a tiny dock, and further up a wooden cabin. It was surrounded by pine trees, except for the trail to the dock. There was smoke coming from the chimney stack which was a sure sign someone was living there. When I had asked James who lived there, he seemed stumped and replied ‘No clue.’ We sat down on a larger boulder near the lake, watching the ducks swim in circles. Before long, the sun began to grow dim, as it slowly floated beyond the hills. James with his arm wrapped around my own, cuddled against my shoulder, as I lay my head upon his. We talked for what seemed like hours about practically nothing, as we just soaked in the solitude, and peacefulness of the moment. James had just raised his head to plant a kiss on my lips, when from somewhere off in the distance we heard something. It sounded like James name being called. But it was too far to tell. We both turned our head in the direction of the noise, in hopes that someone would soon appear. James got up and walked towards the opening in the trees where we had came, and I quickly followed in curiosity. Standing next to each other we soon could hear the voice more clearly. But it wasn’t a normal voice, the voice seemed distressed in a way, kind of scratchy….
“JAMES!!!!!....... JAMES!!!!... OH MY GOD! JAMES!!!!!” We watched as this hysteric figure ran at top speed towards us. James kind of smiled, and raised his hand to wave.
“Who is it?” I asked in confusion.
“It’s Martial.” James giggled. I looked over to the boy running towards us in what seemed to me like desperation. His short legs couldn’t keep up with his brain, and he kept tripping every twenty or so feet. He was wearing glasses, and a sky blue t-shirt and black cargo’s. His hair was scruffy and blond, bouncing off his head while he ran.
“JAMES!!!!!! FOR GOD SAKES!!!......” yelled Martial.
“Slow down Martial, your going to trigger your asthma to act up.” James teased.
“RUN!!!! JAMES RUN!!!!!” Yelled the boy in a massive panic. As he drew closer we noticed his arm was covered in blood, and his shirt was torn. He was waving his arms in signal for us to literally run. James face grew pale, and he fell silent. I looked at him, than too his friend. The trees must have been blowing in the wind, because the shadows were moving rapidly.
“JAMES….. RUN!!!!!” The boy was out of breath as he slowed to a jog, he was close enough for us to see the tears running down his face. There was a massive lesion in his arm which was dripping blood at an alarming pace. I noticed James expression change from, pale and worried to red and in horror. I turned to see what he was looking at. The shadows of the trees weren’t moving like shadows, in face they didn’t seem to be shadows at all. They were blurry and hard to make out, but definitely large and fast. Martial was now only thirty feet from us and just about to exit the forest. That’s when it happened, from beyond the trees one of the shadow like figures immerged at an alarming speed. We attempted to scream, and as Martial looked behind him, we knew it was too late.
The large figure, in a blur jumped directly over Martial, and seemingly missed. We looked towards the figure as it landed and back towards Martial. In front of us, now stood what was once Martial. His body stood straight, but his shoulder and head were no longer there. The body semi spun and feel too the ground, as something rolled past our feet. It was Martials head! Oh dear god, a trail of blood led the way back to this monster. As the head of James former friend stared up at him, with only have a face. We looked back to where the creature was standing, or was. With the acknowledgement of this creature no longer there, and the fear now surging through us, we immediately ran back towards the trees. I remembered tripping once over a root, and James helping me to my feet as we ran in an unknowing panic, which could not be described. With every step I took, I could hear my heart beat faster, James was directly beside me, as we attempted to stay aside one another. I could hear thumping behind us, a lot of thumping. My mind was no longer in control, and my body took over. With every out reached step we took, there were ten or more behind us, it was like we were running from hundreds of falling stones.
Soon I could see the balcony of my house, we were almost there, but so was the thumping behind us. I forced James to take the lead shoving him in front of me, while doing so I tripped over my own foot, and fell to the ground and rolled head over hills into the ditch. I heard James voice scream out in horror as he had realized what had happened. I managed to make sense of myself, and struggled back to my feet, and as I had managed to climb out of the ditch, I felt a massive weight thrust itself against my back, forcing me back to the ground. The feeling of being stabbed by a thousand knives plagued my shoulder. It burned like hot metal, as I felt it deepen into me. I closed my eyes in hope of it being a dream. The world around me than brightened, and I felt myself become lighter. My limbs felt rubbery, but I still stung within. I could feel it running thought my veins. I than heard a loud deep crackle of something in front of me. As the brightness faded, and left me in black. Hearing some muffled voices, than feeling the world spin inside my head, I gave into the beckoning darkness and closed my eyes tighter.
A sense of déjà vu filled my mind, as I struggled to open my eyes. The light was almost unbearable and caused my head to ache. My body was stiff and covered in sweat. I slowly turned over onto my side, I could hear strange things in the background. The running of water and clanking, possibly dishes. Birds off in the distance, the wind in the trees, and a strange hissing sound which I couldn’t place. In an attempt to open my eyes once more, I first covered my face with a blanket which was draped over top of me. I couldn’t remember going to bed, actually nothing was making much sense at the moment. The sun was shining, last I remember it was approaching night. The smell of where I was seemed strong and musky, like a plastic bag that was filled with clothes in a damp area for too long. My entire body was sore, with sharp pains passing through me, like there were thousands of tiny sowing needles coursing with in my veins. I remember hearing a voice, but the worlds volume was set on high muffling its words so I couldn’t make out what was being said. I soon gave up in my attempts to erect myself out of bed, and let myself drift back off into a warm deep sleep.
After what felt like the best nap in my life, I opened my eyes once more to a wonderfully bright and familiar room. My eyes seemed to work with me today, allowing me to awake with a smile. I let out a nice full bodied stretch, and boy do I mean full bodied! Hehe. The aches and pains had gone, in fact they vanished! I could quite honestly say that I felt like a million bucks. Getting out of bed and standing up, I stretched once more, as it had felt so good the first time. God I was in my boxers, that’s so not me! What the hell? Whatever, I shrugged it off and threw on some jean shorts and a white t-shirt. I ran out of my room, and dear god I need to pee! Squirming to the washroom, in hopes that I would make it, unzipping, no co-operation… down with the shorts, alas urine parting is such sweet sorrow; ermmm or bliss I mean. Wow, that piddle break came rather abruptly. I flushed the can, threw up my shorts rinsed my hands and down the stairs I went. Something smelt amazing. It was luring me towards it with its succulent aroma. I couldn’t place it; but what ever it was it was going to be mine! I flew down the rest of the stairs, skipping the last five or so, and landing near the front door. Perfect! Not even a thump. I skipped down the hallway waving my arms back and forth. I saw my mom placing something inside the oven, than go to stir something on the stove top.
“Wow mom something smells great!” I said with a smile. She stopped what she was doing, and turned towards me. She stood for a moment with the strangest expression on her face I had ever seen. It was kind of pale, with a hint of sadness. “What’s wrong?”
She said nothing at first, leaving me standing in awkward silence. I felt my smile fall from my face as I felt something horrible had happened. The longer she stood there the more worried I became. With what felt like hours, at last she graced me with some movement. A smile crossed her face, which left me confused as she dropped her tea towel to the floor and ran towards me with open arms. I didn’t know how to react, my mother didn’t act like this, it just didn’t seem like her. She wrapped her arms around incredibly tight. She squeezed my chest so hard it caused me to burp for some reason. She giggled in my shoulder, as I heard a sniffle.
“Mom? Are you crying?” I asked in confusion, as I had just heard her laugh, I swear to god. She held my tight for a while longer in silence, she than loosened her hold upon me and kissed the top of my head.
“How are you feeling Hun?” She asked looking more like herself. Her question did throw me off a little however.
“I’m feelin’ great Ma.” I replied looking in her eyes, as I razed an eyebrow in her direction.
“We thought you’d never wake up for a while there. The doctor did all he could, he stopped the infection, and bandaged your arm. Had you on an I.V. for a couple of days at the clinic. Oh god I’m so….. I love you Adrian!” She yet again grabbing hold and squeezed me till my face turned blue. Well this was confusing. What in hell was she talking about?
“Mom…… I don’t follow. What are you talking about?”
“Just don’t mind that right now Hun, go shower up, dinner will be ready once your out.” She suggested, kissing my once more on the head than letting me go. I noticed her wipe a tear from her eye as she turned around and picked up the tea towel. I was definitely lost, and I definitely don’t remember any clinic either. I think my moms lost it. I swear to god.
I turned and walked back up the stairs, towards my room so I could get some clean clothes. I know I was wearing clean clothes however showering than putting back on the clothes you wore before just didn’t seem right. I selected a pair of track pants and a black t-shirt, and walked to the bathroom. Turning the water on and stepping back a little, I removed my shirt. My mind wouldn’t let it go, what was she talking. Infection? Bandage? I examined every inch of my body, there was nothing in which I could find which would need a bandage. I felt greater than ever. What ever she was talking about just didn’t make a single bit of sense. I could remember the sleep over with James, god do I remember that well! The walk to the lake, nope no clinic. She’s on something good. I stepped in the shower, and slid the door closed. The water felt soothing against my skin and the steam relaxed my muscles. Well all except one, but that I had no control over.
Of course, thinking back; there were a few holes in time I couldn’t quite recall. Like when did James go home? At what point did I get home? What was up with Martial? Hrmmm, I guess I should hurry up in here and find out what’s going on. With that I quickly washed my hair and the rest of myself, and quickly hurried to go back downstairs for some serious questioning.
“Oh dear, I didn’t think you would be that fast. Supper wont be ready for a while yet.” My mom smiled at me. Wait a second, she said supper. It didn’t register earlier, but its supper. I’ve never slept through the day in my life. I hate missing too many meals, its depressing.
“That’s alright,” I paused as I thought I heard something from outside, “I think someone’s at the door. I’ll get it.” I replied.
“Are you sure I didn’t hear a thing.” It was apparently her turn to raise the eyebrow at me. Just as she did that the doorbell rang. “Good ears.” She nodded. I looked towards the backdoor just to make sure I wasn’t going to play the same game as before, than went to the front.
As I reached the door, I smelt a familiar scent. Not too perfumy and not too fruity. I smiled and opened the door. Haha, I was right! There stood a beautiful looking guy, wearing baggy blue jeans and a red jersey muscle shirt was James. He looked into my eyes with a massive smile on his face, lunging towards me with opened armed. I graciously accepted his gesture of affection, and held him tightly against me as he did the same. After a couple moments, I peered to the kitchen checking where my mom was. Than quickly turned back and planted a warm welcomed kiss which lingered to perfection upon James lips. I than heard my moms footsteps walking towards the other side of the kitchen where she would be able to see us, and was forced to cut ourselves a little short.
“So…. How yea feeling?” James asked with a look of concern on his face.
“I’m super! Just wish I knew why everyone was asking me that.” I replied in more confusion. James appeared to begin to speak, when my mom came from around the corner.
“Hi James, you staying for dinner?” She asked with a grin.
“Ummm, sure Mrs. Conner, Can I use your phone to see if its ok?” James asked in a strangely polite tone.
“Of course you can. I think it’s on the couch in the living room help yourself.”
“Thank you Mrs. Conner.” James returned, as he walked into the living room and found the phone on the couch.
“Dear god James don’t ever talk like that again.” I teased, “It’s kinda creepy, and really turns me off.”
“Your funny, Maybe you should go take a nap or something.” James returned, seemingly a joke, but I didn’t seem to catch on to it, so I faked a grin and left it alone. As he began to dial the phone…… “Hi mom…….Yea he’s awake….. no he’s fine……. He doesn’t need to rest he’s had enough of that……… uh huh……….. yup…….. Anyway, Mrs. Conner invited me to stay for dinner is that alright?.......... Yes mom I did, it’s done….. If I had more homework I wouldn’t have come down here……………. Alright thanks mom……….. Love you too” James rolled his eyes, “ Okay, yup……. Don’t worry I’ll call you if that happens, alright…….. we said that already! Fine, I love you too. Thanks mom bye.” James pressed the end button and placed the phone back on the couch. “God she can talk.”
“Hehehe, I noticed. Love you mom…..” I teased.
“Love you too Hun” My mom said as she walked into the dining room beside us.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! That’s what you get……. Hun.” James returned giggling.
“Touché. So it sounds to me like I missed school or something.” I mentioned in an attempt to get some answers.
“Yea……..” James started
“Dinners ready!” My mom called out. DAMN I thought to myself, as James turned and walked towards the dining room. We sat at the table, James across from me and my mom at the other end beside me.
“ROGER!!!!!! DINNER IS SERVED!!!!!” My mom called out for my dad, in a very lady like manner I might add. Moments later, he walked into the room. He looked over towards me with a huge smile on his face, and slowly sat down not breaking eye contact.
“So, you have a good nap?” He said with a grin, I yet again failed to see humor of my wasted day. “But seriously, you feeling better I take it?”
“Yea I’m doing great, starving, but great.” I smiled.
“Well than lets eat!” My mom suggested, lifting the lid of the roaster. The aroma filled the air, waking up my sense’s. Wow, the first time in history my mom’s pot roast ever smelt good to me. Or anyone for that matter.
The table was covered in fresh bread, roasted potatoes, and miscellaneous vegetables, which I found kind of amusing, as pot roast has all those things in it already. Well apart from the bread. My dad cut the meat in generous sized portions, and evenly distributed them amongst us. I grabbed some bread and potatoes while he did so, and served James some as well. The first few minutes were silent as everyone feasted upon scrumptious grub. God was this oddly tasty today.
“So, do you think you’ll have a scar to go with the story Adrian?” My Dad asked looking towards me.
“A scar? I’m not sure I follow.” I replied even more confused.
“Wow they had you on some pretty strong drugs” He smirked.
“Would someone please tell me what’s going on?” I pleaded.
“You alright Adrian?” My mother asked in concern.
“Yes, I told you I’m fine! I just don’t know what everyone’s talking about. Can someone please tell me something! I don’t remember being sick, and I cant recall anything to do with a scar.” I stopped in frustration.
“Wow those were good drugs.” James turned to my Dad with a serious look on his face. “Dude, you were attacked by a crazy huge wolf! It bit your shoulder pretty hard. Your dad scared it off with a shot gun and took you too the clinic. You ended up getting a weird infection that the doctor couldn’t get rid of, so you were on loads of antibiotics over at the clinic for like 3 days. Than they let you come home finally, and a doctor came two times a day to give you a shot, and yea, here we are.” James explained to me finally.
“It’s alright now Adrian, your fine.” My mom added, in some form of an attempt to comfort me.
“So, what day is it today?” I asked in disbelief
“Friday.” My Dad added as he shoveled some more potatoes in his mouth.
“I was sleeping for a week!!?” My jaw felt like it literally hit the floor, “Is that even possible?”
“Apparently it is. But don’t worry you’ll have plenty of homework next week to catch up on.” My Dad teased.
“Thanks Dad, Really.” I added sarcastically, than poked my tongue out in his direction.
“On the bright side, you’ll have one hell of a scare on your back. The chicks dig guys with scars.” My dad winked at me, as me and James looked at each other and rolled our eyes in unity.
“If you boys are done, you can put your dishes in the sink and run off if you like.” My mother suggested trying to save us from where my dads topic would soon lead.
“Thanks Ma.” I said grabbing my plate, and than James plate to take it to the kitchen. James followed me, thanking my mom for the wonderful meal first. “Your such a butt kisser.” I teased him.
“Better a butt kisser, and have your parents like me, than be rude and not want me around.” He pointed out.
“Or you could be you, and have them like you for you.” I pointed out better.
“Nah, parents don’t care for the real you side of people.” He grinned. As he than followed me upstairs towards my room.
Sitting on my bed with James beside me, I found myself still lost in thoughts about this whole situation. I wouldn’t think that even on some crazy drugs I would sleep the whole week away. I mean how bad could the infection have gotten for them to give me drugs that would keep me asleep? And last I remember antibiotics don’t make you sleep. Sure they make you a little drowsy or something but a week’s ridiculous.
“So….. Does your shoulder still hurt?” James asked in an attempt to break the silence.
“Ummm, no. I don’t even see where it bit me.” I shrugged.
“Well your obviously blind because that was a pretty deep looking bite.” James mentioned in a tone of sarcastic ridicule.
“I’m serious, I can’t find it.” I said showing I wasn’t joking.
“It’s like, right on the back of your left shoulder silly. Well, it’s probably a good thing you don’t know where it is, because that shows it doesn’t hurt. But you might not want to look at it.”
“Why’s that?” I replied with the slightly raised shoulder.
“Well, once you see it…. It will start to hurt again. You know how it goes.” James explained as I attempted to see if he was being sarcastic in any way. I than ripped off my shirt, an looked toward my shoulder.
“WOW, that Doctor did an awesome job on your back dude! You can’t even see a mark.” James added.
“You guys are lying. Come one what really happened?” I asked feeling more confused.
“Why would anyone lie about something like that? That would be just mean. I wouldn’t lie to you Adrian, honest.” James looked kind of upset with the accusation.
“I’m sorry James. It’s just this whole thing is confusing. I don’t remember a thing, last I do remember, I was sitting at the lake with you. Than you said Martial was coming, and that was it.” James put his head down. I watched for a moment than realized he was crying. I’m such a jerk! Now I’m making people cry for no reason. “James? You alright? You know I’m not mad at you right?” I attempted, unsure how to comfort him. So when all else failed I put my arm around him. He in turn buried his face in my shoulder.
“It’s not that………. Martial……he didn’t make it back.” James struggled in between sniffles.
“What do you mean……. Didn’t make it?” I asked carefully, in fear of the answer.
“One of the wolves……… it bit…… He was killed.” His crying grew harder, and he pulled me into him in an attempt to drown the sobbing to a minimal.
“It’s okay James.” I said softly, hugging him tight. Oh god, did I say it’s okay?? What is the matter with me? His friend was killed by a freaken animal, and all I can say to comfort him is, it’s okay? “I’m sorry James. I’m here.” That’s better.
James snuggled against me for nearly ten minutes before his tears subsided, and he could cry no more. My poor man, in one day he lost his friend and nearly his boyfriend. Than had to spend the next week alone. At least for me, I got attacked and forgot, than was able to sleep away all the pain and agony. I couldn’t imagine what his life was like the past few days. It was horrible, I could think of no way to comfort him to my satisfaction. I guess all I could really do was be there, and to show him I cared.
“So, Did you want to go for a walk or something?” James said with a smile.
“Yea actually I do. With maybe some something a little later.” I smiled, looking down towards his super special parts. James smiled, and kissed me. Than got up with his hand in mine.
“Cool, but first lets go pee.” James smiled once again.
“Hehehe, okay! Your such a perve.” I said smiling back.
“I’m a perve? You’re the one that suggested sex, all I suggested was a pee.”
“So, I think big! And when I think big, I think of you.” I flirted, causing James to blush.
“To my recollection, yours was a tad bigger than mine.”
“Maybe so, but mine is in no way as perfect as yours.” I pointed out as a matter of fact, James only became a sexier shade of red. “So lets pee away!”
“Now you just want to see my meat.” James giggled.
“So, I never said I didn’t. Now can we pee? Seriously all this talk and now I really got to go.” I insisted.
“Alrighty.” Is all he said, as he turned still holding my hand as he guided me to the bathroom.
James was first to begin, and I quickly followed. Our pee crossed each others trails, as be had a mini battle of the urine. I couldn’t quite tell why, but; for some reason, all I could smell was orange juice. It was really strong, but had a slight off scent to it. I couldn’t place the other smell, but it was strange none the less. I looked towards James cuteness, as it hung at half attention dangling beside me. That was it for me, I felt myself lift to full alert in the blink of an eye. It was pretty sad, I mean all we were doing was peeing, that shouldn’t turn a guy on….. should it? It was just the mere sight of it being in eyes view. The slight puff of hairs peeking out from under his shirt, the penis through the opened jeans, along with the fact that I could see his underwear too, they were black, which was always my favorite color when it came to undergarments.
“Adrian! What are you doing?” James giggled, while stepping back a notch. I snapped back to reality, and realized I was peeing way off course and onto the floor. These erection things make it really hard to aim!
“HAHA, oops. Sorry, I uh… got a little distracted.” I replied, while redirecting and finishing with a couple quick shakes. Of course I always added the third shake so it would count!
“Geeze, am I going to have to make you pee on your own from now on?” James joked while doing his unique after shake routine.
“Hehe, probably should. But where’s the fun in that?” I remarked, while getting a wad of tissue paper to clean up my puddle of lustful thinking. Hehe.
“Yea, I suppose you bare a good point.”
“By the way, did you smell orange juice a minute ago?” I asked still smelling it mildly.
“Orange Juice? Ummm, no…… Haven’t been near orange juice since I drank a glass a couple hours ago.” James returned with a strange look on his face. One that spoke and asked ‘what the hell are you on’ kind of words.
“Hmmm, well guess that can’t be it. What ever, guess I’m smelling things. Been doing a lot of that today.” I explained, while dropping the soaked tissue paper in the bowl and flushing it down the drain.
After washing our hands, we walked down the stairs to ask my mom if it was alright to go for a walk through town. She hesitantly agreed, and we were off. Slowly we walked side by side towards centre town. The streets were quiet as usual, with only the odd person here and there. James wasn’t really talking, and nor was I. I think it was just one of those moments where you just wanted to enjoy the others company. Uh ummmm, not that him talking would ruin anything….. hehe. We stopped off at one of the little shops to get some ice cream, which was semi exciting for me, as I hadn’t quite gone into any of the stores in town yet, which was weird I know, I should have been everywhere the first week I was here. However I was in complete and utter denial about this whole living in a small town away from my entire life back home. But now I had found something good here, and I mean really god damn good, it was now fun.
“So, what kind of ice cream do yea want?” James said nudging the side of my arm bringing me back into reality.
“I don’t know, maybe something chocolate….. But I kind of want vanilla too.” This was going to be a while, there were 20 flavors of ice cream, and I couldn’t seem to decide if I wanted chocolate or vanilla.
“Well, you know you could get a swirl. It’s soft ice cream, that is half and half. Really cool looking, always wondered how exactly they do that.” James suggested.
“That I couldn’t tell you, but I think we got a winner so long as the can dip it in chocolate too!” My stomach began to purr at the very thought.
“Hehehe, well, I think that can be arranged, I’ll go get it.” James giggled than walked up to the counter. He was so cute looking into the freezer, with both hands pressed up against the glass, and his face smeared across the top, with his breathing fogging up the glass. The clerk didn’t seem to pleased with this, as he was giving dirty looks towards James, which made me mad.
“Come on we haven’t got all day!” I joked. Seeing him talk to that same clerk, than point to the freezer. The man laughed a little than opened it up. Seconds later he came out with a huge waffle cone stacked with three scoops of different colored ice cream. James stood patiently as the man turned to make the other cone, as James watched in amazement, seemingly trying to scope out the bewildering ice cream swirl mystery. I don’t think he had any luck, because while paying the guy and turning around, he didn’t look too pleased.
“Damn it! I still don’t get it. It doesn’t make sense. How is it one side is chocolate and the other is vanilla? I mean, I’m pretty sure he only used the one nozzle thingy.”
“Well out of site out of mind right, and it’s a good thing I got it dipped.” I giggled at James who still seemed baffled. “By the way, how many kinds of ice cream are on that monster?”
“Oh, haha, there’s chocolate ripple inside the cone, than first scoop is chocolate chunk vanilla, the second is chunky monkey, and the third scoop is cookie doe. Want some?” He explained with a smile.
“Uh, I think I’ll tackle mine first hehe, it’s already melting.” I replied.
“Right you just don’t want my cooties.”
“Yea you got me!” I grinned, “By the way where are we going?”
“To the Sanctuary.”
Chapter 6
